If you want your child to have a safe and happy bathing experience, consider spending a trifle on baby bath tubs.

Various ways of bathing your baby

Let's face it, bathing your baby is not as easy as it sounds. What should been a time to enjoy with your newborn child gets demoted into a frustrating and worrisome chore. Unless you have the right baby bath tubs and accessories at your disposal you would soon come to regret your time bathing your baby, which is a shame considering you would be missing out on one of the most enjoyable experiences of raising a kid. In order to determine what product would be right for your child, you need to consider the alternatives. These are the primary ways of giving your baby a bath:

  • In a regular tub - Could be your normal bath tub or a plain old tub. While this is the most common way of doing things bear in mind that none of these solutions were intended, or even designed, for this use. Rather it carries some risk factor as they were meant to be used for adults only. At the very least this offers no exciting options to spruce the activity up for the baby.
  • On the kitchen sink - Many parents use a bowl or tub placed over the sink for bathing purpose. There are special baby bath seats that can also be used in this fashion. It is important to ensure that your child does not have access to the sink taps or is not placed directly under the tap.
  • In a tummy bath - This is a particular sort of bath tub that replicates the position of the baby while it was a fetus in the mother's womb. The design of the tummy bath ensures a comfortable experience for the baby where it can lie down in a fetal position, and can help sooth the baby. Particularly useful for premature babies and kids who hate taking baths.
  • In a summer tub - Summer baby bath tubs provide extra safety and comfort, and can be used for infants to toddlers and any age in between. These tubs feature head and back support, and have non slip surfaces to provide more stability. Some them also come with temperature indicators.

How to choose the right tub

Baby bath tubs range in cost from the extremely cheap (and generic) to quite expensive, custom designed ones. While parents obviously would like to provide the best for their kids it is also important to take the baby's preferences into account, after all its the safety and comfort of your baby that matters the most. Bear these following factors in mind as you go hunting for that perfect tub for your baby:

  • Convenience - normal tubs do not provide the extra safety features, as such they require greater attention from the parents to prevent any accidents. Ideally you would like to use some safe grip or anti-slip measures, non-slip bath mats can be a good idea. If you're going to be bathing your child on the floor consider adding a sink to the tub, that way you don't have to place the baby tub/seat on the adult bath tub or over the kitchen sink.
  • Safety - there are various baby bath seats and tubs that employ better safety features. Use them, but always keep in mind that it is no substitute to constant adult supervision. Never leave your baby unattended in a bath, and if you have to leave to get the phone or something always take him/her with you.
  • Accessories - various toys can be added or come shipped with baby bath tubs to entice your kid, great for recalcitrant children. You can also add baby visors to keep out shampoo from their eyes while washing their hair.

There are plenty of baby bath tubs which would fit the bill, and your needs. Shop around for a bargain, and you are likely to find a good deal that would help make the bathing time of your baby a special experience for both.
